The role:

As an Industrial Design and Engineering Intern, you'll support the development of our product designs from concept through to full scale prototype. You'll collaborate with our engineering team to design, test, and refine the usability and functionality of our innovative precision pesticide sprayer.

This is primarily an on-site role due to the nature of the work however there is the opportunity for some hybrid work.

 

Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of product concepts, incorporating functionality, user experience, and durability in challenging agricultural environments.

  • Create detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD software.

  • Participate in prototype development, including 3D printing and producing mechanical pieces to be incorporated into our test rigs.

  • Collaborate closely with other functions including mechanical engineers, software developers, and others to deliver integrated solutions that meet our product goals.

  • Help with prototype and product assembly, conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems to ensure performance and reliability at our workshop and at test and customer vineyards.

  • Document designs, specifications, test procedures, and results for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.

We're looking for someone who:
  • Embodies our core values of curiosity, problem solving, resilience, humility, emotional intelligence, and commitment to collaboration.

  • Is currently pursuing or has recently completed a degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Has a strong portfolio showcasing design skills, creativity, and a problem-solving approach.

  • Possesses proficiency in CAD software and is great at putting things together in a workshop.

  • Has excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Has excellent communication skills, capable of documenting and presenting ideas clearly.

If you are successful at this stage, we'll arrange an initial phone/video call where one of the team will explain the position, introduce Cordon and get to know a little bit more about you (30 minutes).

 

Successful candidates at this stage will then be invited to an on-site interview, including hands-on activity, and presentation of a previously prepared technical task. They will also meet the rest of the team with tea/coffee (2.5 hours).
